GLO (GloCast Ltd) is a video and live event production company with bases in Edinburgh and London. We deliver technical production for corporate clients, conferences, education, arts and public sector events across the UK and internationally. Our work ranges from single-camera shoots through to multi-day conferences with full AV, video and streaming delivery.

As the business grows, we are building our permanent presence in London. This is to grow our video capacity there.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Junior Video Producer to cover our London video work and to be part of the wider GLO production team. This is a hands-on role for someone two to three years into their production career who wants to film, light and edit their own work.

Much of our work is shot solo or in a small crew. You will regularly be the only GLO person on site, setting up cameras, lighting and microphones, filming senior people presenting to their staff, and then editing and delivering to a tight deadline. At larger conferences you will work alongside the rest of the team, filming b-roll, operating PTZ cameras and helping rig.

This is a junior post with a defined route to Video Producer. We would expect the right person to move up on review as they take on more responsibility.

Our year is seasonal. Conference season brings concentrated periods of long days, overnight trips and fast turnarounds, followed by quieter months. This is the reason the flexi time arrangement below exists.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Production

• Liaise with clients to determine their video production requirements.
• Collate the graphical and video assets needed from the client and from our team. Sometimes you will create basic graphics in Photoshop.
• Turn briefs into simple production plans, running orders and timelines.
• Basic scripting of piece-to-camera and interview content.
• Look out, check and prepare our video equipment ahead of each job.

Production

• Take responsibility for the smooth running of the shoot. Often you will be the only video producer on location, other times you will be part of a larger team.
• Travel with kit on site and rig our production gear.
• Set up lighting, sound and camera(s), working as a self-sufficient lighting and camera operator when required. Sometimes there will be the need to reposition more than once.
• Film interviews and b-roll for the edit, sometimes running a second camera for an additional angle.
• Operate PTZ cameras and run cable during conference rig days with the rest of the team.
• Occasionally run remote recording sessions from our studio.

Post-Production

• Derig and pack gear, assisting the rest of the team as part of a larger event.
• Edit to often tight timelines in Adobe Premiere Pro, including basic grading and sound.
• Post-event client liaison, delivery of recordings and reporting.

General

• Represent GLO professionally on client sites and alongside AV and technical event crew, staying mindful of their timescales and pressures.
• Keep job records and project detail up to date in Asana and Notion.
• Look after the London kit: know what we have, what condition it is in and what needs replacing.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Around one to two years in video production, filmmaking or a related media role, including recent hands-on work you have lit, filmed and edited yourself.
• Experienced in filming using Sony FX6 / FX9 / FS7 / a7.
• Experienced in using Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
• Able to light an interview and mic up a contributor unsupervised.
• Experience of working with or alongside audio visual production companies.
• Calm under pressure, and comfortable with the time pressures of filming and delivering at live events.
• Comfortable and presentable when talking with clients, including senior people.
• Good organisational skills, able to hold several jobs at once without losing the detail.
• Excellent timekeeping and integrity.
• Willing to work independently away from base as well as being a member of a close-knit team.
• Based in London, with the right to work in the UK.
• A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally.

Desirable

Employee Hours and Benefits

• Working week: Our normal hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm, with a one hour unpaid lunch break, making a 37.5 hour week. Because of the nature of our work you will regularly work different hours, longer days and some weekends. Hours are logged via BreatheHR.
• Flexi time: Hours worked beyond your contracted 37.5 are banked and taken back as time off, typically in the quieter post-conference-season period, rather than paid as overtime. Balances are tracked on BreatheHR and reviewed monthly. Plenty of production companies treat long days as simply the cost of the job. We would rather log them and give the time back.
• Holiday: 28 days per year, including bank holidays and the office Christmas closure, plus one additional day’s leave for your birthday each year.

Salary

• £32,000 per annum.

Terms

• Probation: Three months.
• Notice period: One week during probation, rising to one month thereafter.

Where You Will Work

Our London workspace at Chester House, 81-83 Fulham High Street, SW6 EJW, with home working sometimes. You will be London-based, and most of your shoot days will be in and around London.

Travel is a regular feature of this role. Expect trips elsewhere in the UK, most often to Edinburgh, and overseas travel to events.

Reporting

Liam Rennie (Video Producer, London) is your line manager and sets your day-to-day priorities. Debbie Laird (Production Manager) heads up the video department from Edinburgh.
