Event video is an incredibly useful tool for any event!

Being able to capture event sessions and highlights of an event on video can be an invaluable asset for your company’s future marketing efforts.

Like any other kind of video production, event videography requires a certain level of skill and knowledge to be done properly.

Here are the top five tips for event managers looking to get into event videography:

1. Plan and prioritise your deliverables before the event and knowing what you want to get out of the event videography is key. Make sure you have a clear idea of the footage you need and identify the most important parts of the event you need to include. This will help coordination between you and your videographer that much easier.

2. Make sure that the videographer knows the scope of the project ahead of time. Giving them an itinerary for the day and providing details about the event format and any special requests you have is important.

3. Be organised with your video brief, scripts, interviews, props, equipment etc. Event managers should ensure that all their items needed are organised ahead of the event and that the video brief is thoroughly planned out. The more organised the event manager, the easier it will be for the videographer to capture the desired footage.

4. Communicate often. Discuss any special needs or requests with the videographer prior to the event. Make sure you communicate how the video will be used after filming is finished, such as for event promotion or re- viewing.

5. Have a timeline. Setting and communicating a realistic timeline of how you would like the day to run and when you would like the video edit to be completed. This will allow for everything to go smoothly on the day of the event and both parties will have a clear understanding of when the deliverables are expected.
