Brief

Granite Noir is Aberdeen's Crime Writing Festival and is one of the most popular crime writing festivals in the UK! The festival includes a live streaming element to enable the festival to reach a much wider audience, allowing them to reach a global audience. Following 3 years of hosting this event fully virtually, one of the primary goals of Granite Noir 2022 & 2023 was to re-centre the festival in its home - The Granite City (Aberdeen). It was important to retain all of the benefits of a virtual event (accessibility, production quality and reach) while keeping the in-person experience at the heart.

Summary

Working with the event team, GLO used a combination of remotecontrolled and manned cameras to allow for a full, broadcastquality coverage of the sessions. As well as the inperson audience, we streamed the sessions to our custombuilt, passwordprotected microsite for the online ticket holders.

Using our hybridbased system, we were able to bring in remote contributors. Having this system in place for all inperson events guarantees that all of your sessions can go ahead to the highest standard. When one of the speakers was not able to make it at the last minute, they were able to deliver their session remotely with seamless integration with the inperson stage in Aberdeen. No stress and no compromise of production quality.

Aberdeen Performing Arts worked with GLO on our Granite Noir Crime Fiction Festival – in 2021 as a 100% digital festival and in 2022 as an in-person festival with virtual presenters and live-streamed events. The team are an absolute joy to work with – everything is thoroughly planned, nothing is too much trouble, last-minute pivots (crises!) are taken in stride, and the end result is extremely high quality. Would recommend them without hesitation and would love to work with them again.
